Classroom Setup & Organization

The school year may have just ended, but I'm already busy getting my classroom ready for next year.  I try to do a little bit at a time as the summer goes on so that I don't have much to do just before school starts.  Here are some of the projects I complete prior to the school year:

  • Desk Name Plates
    • Once I have my class list I take a few moments during the summer to type each students name onto a desk name plate.  My current classroom theme is owls, so my name plates include a picture of an owl on them.  I save this document once I've typed all of the names in so that I can easily add more students or delete students who end up moving.  Just before the year starts I print these on colored paper, laminate them, and cut them out.  Throughout the year I can easily repeat this process to create a clean and fresh set of name plates without having to write each student's name out.  This has been a big time and money saver!  On my Teacher's Pay Teacher's Store you will find my owl desk plates along with others.  http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Hooting-About-Learning
